At the Point

Tim and I spent part of our extra long Labor Day Weekend at Cedar Point. I think it's been over 5 years since either one of us had been there, so needless to say, there were quite a few new coasters that needed to be ridden :) The day was absolutely beautiful, and probably one of the few times I've been there that it wasn't 105 and humid. The day was made even better by the fact that we went with some close friends of ours.
I wish I had taken more photos... but just a few from our day:

Christy & I in the front seat of the Maverick.

Paige & I waiting in line for the Wicked Twister (which you can see in the background).

Here's hoping it's not another 5 years before we get back again!

(And I can't forget to mention that Tim and I celebrated our 4 Year Anniversary this past weekend as well!)

My Brother's Wedding

This past weekend was one that I (and my family) had been looking forward to for a very long time. It was the wedding of my brother and his fiancee, and both Tim and I were honored to be part of the ceremony. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day - from the weather, to the ceremony, to the hundreds of friends & family who came to celebrate with the new couple!

My birthday was the same night as the rehearsal dinner, so my parents surprised me with a yummy birthday cake.

The "old married couple" getting ready to celebrate 4 years next weekend!

Elkhart Co. Fair

Since moving to this area of Indiana, I've been told over and over that I have to do two things - 1. go to a Notre Dame game (check), and 2. go to the Elkhart County Fair. Well, after 4 years, I finally made it there (and in all honesty, aren't all fairs the same?) We...

... ate greasy fair food

... saw all the farm animals in every 4-H barn

... rode a few tried-and-true fair rides

... and the best part - had a great time with our family!

Bridal Showers

This past weekend was one I had been planning for quite a long time. With the help of my mom, sister, and Becky's Mom - we held a bridal shower for my soon-to-be sister-in-law.

Sunday evening, my parents church (also the church us kids grew up in) gave them a wedding shower as well. After 4 years in the Marine Corps and 1 tour of duty in Iraq... at one time, this day seemed so far away...

And while I was away having fun, Tim was in Idaho on business. One of my biggest "pet peaves" is that blue football field in Boise State (seriously, I complain every time it's on TV). So of course, Tim had to bring me back a little souvenir.

Congrats Mrs. B

This past weekend we celebrated the retirement of Tim's mom from over 29 years of teaching. The entire family - including the parents of all us in-laws - had a wonderful dinner in a victorian home turned restaurant in Goshen.

The whole group watching a special video of Barb and her teaching years.

Tim and his parents along with me and mine outside the restaurant.

The Bontrager girls surrounding Mom Bontrager. Congratulations Barb!

Learning Something New

Hhhmmm.... I might have just found a new hobby. Last night, our church held a "mugged" flower design class. I love to decorate and do graphic design for a living, so thought - why not? And for the fact that it was advertised as a "Patriotic" arrangment - you knew I'd be there.

So here she is. I'm sure not technically "right", but so much fun & lots of great tips! (who knew you could take not-so-good smelling flowers and put them in water with fabric softner to make them less noticable? Good stuff :)
